About Dr. Kristen Barber-Goins

You’re not falling apart — you’re finally paying attention.

If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re doing everything for everyone else — and quietly running on empty.

Maybe you’re a high-achieving woman who looks like she has it all together from the outside, but inside you’re exhausted, anxious, and wondering how much longer you can keep up this pace. Maybe motherhood has taken more out of you than you ever expected, and the version of yourself you used to know feels far away. Or maybe your body and mood have been shifting in ways that feel confusing or out of your control — and no one around you quite understands.

This is where things can start to change.

Meet Your Therapist

Meet Dr. Kristen Barber-Goins

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist based in Texas, and I work with women who are smart, capable, driven — and stretched way too thin. I specialize in supporting women navigating mom burnout, stress, anxiety, low mood, and the often-overlooked emotional and psychological weight of perimenopause and menopause. These aren’t small things. They deserve real attention and real care.

I bring 15 years of clinical experience across private practice, the U.S. Air Force, and the VA — which means I’ve worked with people facing some of life’s most demanding circumstances. I also understand personally the complexity of balancing achievement and ambition, motherhood and invisible responsibility, and caring for others while quietly running on empty. Because of this, therapy with me is not only professionally informed but deeply human and attuned to this season of a woman’s life.

Therapeutic Approach

How I Work

My approach draws on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Humanistic therapies.

We work with both the patterns of thinking that keep you stuck and the deeper emotional roots underneath them. Therapy here isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s collaborative, tailored to you, and grounded in what actually works.
